10 reasons why...

WE NEED MORE WOMEN ON BOARDS

1) Your stakeholders, including employees, investors and customers include women. How better to understand these constituencies than by representing them at the top of the organization?

2) Having women in the boardroom sends the message that the company is accessible, inclusive and open to innovation. This is very positive in the marketplace and motivating for employees.

3) Women represent half the population.

4) According to Forbes magazine, women represent the largest market opportunity in the works and control $20 trillion in annual consumer spending. If your company wants to be included in women's purchasing behavior then best to understand it. READ MORE HERE...

VIP MEMBER TINA LARSSON

Economic well-being, and especially stock market investments, have been prominent news stories these days. Tina Larsson, a WIB VIP Member, is an expert in equity investing who has also published dozens of articles and reports on these topics over her 20-year Wall Street career. She has laid out a few guidelines for our members:

1) Conduct a detailed financial evaluation of where you stand today

2) Separate unnecessary or discretionary expenses from necessary expenses

3) Determine how much you need every month to cover your cost of living, and set an amount you have ‘left over’ to invest

4) Talk to a qualified professional; ask trusted advisors for referrals and check references

5) Develop a comprehensive plan that is unique to your situation (not a ‘cookie cutter’ approach)

6) Have an annual, professional review to make sure you are keeping on track, and to incorporate any needed changes based on occurrences and situations that arose in the previous 12 months

7) Stay committed and consistent: remember, slow and steady wins the race!

8) Add as much as you can to your equity investments during market downturns and dips. As Warren Buffett said: "Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful."

If you're looking for financial or other experts in the boardroom, let us know about your corporate board opening here. We have qualified VIP Members who are ready to serve.

WITH SHEILA RONNING

The foundation of Women in the Boardroom is women helping other women.  We encourage females to connect and learn from one another on their journeys to the boardroom and provide each other with the inspiration, guidance and knowledge to ultimately advance their careers.  I find women are more than willing to assist each other in these ways.  In fact, if you aren’t willing, you are not welcome at Women in the Boardroom.  It is that simple.

The path to the boardroom can be a lonely place. It can be confusing and even intimidating at times. There will be road blocks, hurdles and blind spots on this journey.  But the wonderful thing about being part of a group like Women in the Boardroom is that you meet women who have been where you are now and can help you get where you want to go. READ MORE HERE...
